Practicing love can be daunting when you’ve been hurt. A broken-heart. Unforgiveness. Fear. Distrust. Betrayal. While there are very real obstacles, we can identify and overcome the opposition to love.

At times we feel like victims; at times we are the perpetrators. We have been offended and we’ve been the offenders. We’ve been hurt and we’ve hurt others. “God knows that failure is an inevitable part of life and that weakness and vulnerability are a part of creature hood. They are part of what makes us human. It is through this weakness and vulnerability that most of us learn empathy and compassion and discover our soul.” @desmondtutu

Denial, ignoring or burying the pain won’t fix it. “You can’t heal a wound by saying it’s not there!” (Jeremiah 6:14). Awareness is the first step toward healing.

May we possess the courage to look inward, for catharsis, and in so doing create space for our own soul growth. May we bring our wounds, that are robbing us from love and stealing our joy, before the Master, as Rumi says “that is the place where the Light enters you.”. May you exchange your hurt and pain for His Light and Love and find healing.
